Giants rookies Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo combine for five touchdowns in historic New York win over Eagles

In a historic performance on Thursday Night Football, rookie sensations Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo powered the New York Giants to a stunning 34-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Dart, the 25th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, threw for a touchdown and added another on the ground, leading the Giants in just his third career start. Skattebo, a fourth-round selection in April, was equally explosive, rushing for 98 yards and scoring three touchdowns.

Together, the dynamic duo set several milestones, injecting new life into a Giants team that has struggled to find success in recent seasons. Their chemistry on and off the field has already won over the New York fanbase, with their joint celebrations and Skattebo’s now-iconic scream quickly becoming fan favorites.

After the victory, Skattebo opened up about the bond he shares with Dart, emphasizing their teamwork both on and off the field. “We spend a lot of time together outside of football, talking about how to turn things around,” the 23-year-old said. “It’s not just about us. We’re trying to get everyone to buy in, stay positive, and work every day to improve.”

Skattebo acknowledged the Giants’ recent struggles but stressed the importance of shifting the culture. “This franchise has been through a lot of losing, but that’s not who we are anymore. We need to keep building, keep growing, and continue to stay positive. Tonight, we got a win, and I felt the energy from the team—the mindset is changing.”

With their breakthrough victory over the defending champion Eagles, Dart and Skattebo are proving that the future of the Giants is brighter than ever.

Giants Stun Eagles in Historic Win Behind Rookie Duo Dart and Skattebo

The New York Giants made a statement on Thursday Night Football, snapping a 25-year streak without a win over a reigning Super Bowl champion with a 34-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. The last time the Giants had defeated a defending champion was in 1998, and on paper, this matchup against the star-studded Eagles seemed like a tall order.

However, the Giants came out firing, racing to a 13-3 lead in the first quarter. Quarterback Jaxson Dart got things rolling with a 20-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a 35-yard touchdown pass to Wan-Dale Robinson, showcasing his ability to move both with his arm and legs.

Philadelphia, however, responded with two long touchdown drives, shifting the momentum and taking a 17-13 lead midway through the second quarter. The energy in MetLife Stadium seemed to deflate as the Eagles took control. But from that point on, it was all about the rookie duo of Dart and running back Cam Skattebo, who led the Giants on a scoring spree while the Eagles’ offense faltered.

Skattebo, who had already been a fan favorite for his electric style of play, went on to score three more touchdowns, each capped off with his trademark backflip and surfing celebration, sending the crowd into a frenzy. As the touchdowns piled up, the Giants faithful got a glimpse of a bright future, with the chemistry between Dart and Skattebo lighting up the field.

Skattebo’s performance was historic—he became just the second Giants rookie in history, and the first since 2011, to score three rushing touchdowns in a single game. According to the NFL, this feat hadn’t been accomplished since Brandon Jacobs in 2005.

Dart also etched his name into Giants lore, becoming the first rookie starting quarterback since Travis Tidwell in 1950 to lead the Giants to a win over their NFC East rival. Dart’s poise and playmaking ability in just his third career start further solidified his future as the team’s quarterback of the future.

Together, Dart and Skattebo became the first duo of Giants rookies to rush for touchdowns in the same game since Larry Heater and Leon Perry did so in 1980 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Dart finished the game with 195 passing yards, completing 17 of 25 attempts. In addition, he rushed for 58 yards on 13 carries, becoming just the third quarterback in Super Bowl era history to rush for 50 or more yards in their first three starts, joining Eagles star Jalen Hurts and two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.

“I’ve liked everything about Dart since we got him,” Giants head coach Brian Daboll said after the win. “He’s not perfect, and it’s not going to be perfect every time, but he’s showing us what he’s capable of.”

As for Skattebo, his incredible display of talent continued to earn him admiration from coaches, teammates, and fans alike. The victory over the Eagles marked a new chapter for a Giants team that has long been in the shadow of the NFC East, and Dart and Skattebo are quickly becoming the faces of this exciting new era in New York football.

“But you’ve got toughness, you see the field well, and you’ve got athleticism, vision, leadership. It’s only three games in, and 2-1 as a starting quarterback. There’s still a lot to work on, and he’ll be the first to tell you that, but he’s a leader,” said Giants head coach Brian Daboll, reflecting on Jaxson Dart’s early success.

With the win, the Giants improve to 2-4 on the season, while the Eagles suffer their second consecutive loss, dropping to 4-2.
